Two children killed, seven injured in separate road accidents in Kupwara

Kupwara, Dec 30. Two children lost their lives, and seven others were injured in two separate road accidents reported from different areas of Kupwara on Tuesday, officials said.
In the first incident, a tractor bearing registration number JK09B-4871 met with an accident at Qureshi Mohalla in the Taad area of Tangdhar. The tractor, driven by Azhar Ahmad Mughal, son of Mohd Rafiq Mughal, a resident of Taad, hit three children.
The deceased were identified as Aliya Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Qureshi (08), and Azlan Sajad, son of Sajad Ahmad Qureshi (09). Both were residents of Taad. Another child, Shaizan Muneer, son of Muneer Ahmad, also a resident of Taad, sustained injuries.
All the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Tangdhar. Doctors declared Aliya and Azlan brought dead, while Shaizan was later referred to SDH Handwara for further treatment.
Police registered a case at the Police Station Karnah. The tractor was seized, and the driver was arrested. Investigation has been taken up.
In another incident, six passengers were injured after a collision between a Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK09A- 4735 and a load carrier bearing registration number JK09B- 7597 near Trehgam Police Station.
Locals and police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured passengers to PHC Trehgam. The injured, residents of the Hyhama and Kralpora areas of Kupwara, sustained minor injuries and are reported to be stable.
Officials confirmed that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in both incidents, and further proceedings have been initiated.
