Srinagar, Nov 12: SSM College of Engineering organised the World Science Day (WSD-2025) function on 12th November 2025 at the Convention Center, Gulmarg, Kashmir. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Trust, Transformation and Tomorrow – The Science We Need for 2050.”
According to a statement issued here, on this occasion, eminent scientists and academicians from industry and academia participated, including Prof. M.A. Shah, Dean Alumni & International Affairs, NIT Srinagar; Er. Farooq Fareed Nabi, Aeronautical Engineer/Space Scientist; Prof. M.S. Mir, Former Dean Academics, NIT Srinagar; G.N. Var, Former J&K President, Private School Association; and Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Principal, Degree College Baramulla and Prof. Gopalakrishnan, Professor, CIT Bangalore.
A large gathering of students from various degree colleges and higher secondary schools across different districts of Kashmir participated enthusiastically in the event. Prof. M.A. Shah, Dean Alumni & International Affairs, NIT Srinagar, presented the keynote address, while Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo extended a warm welcome address to the participants.
The speakers emphasized the need for students to develop an innovative mindset and cultivate a scientific temper from an early stage so that their innovations can contribute meaningfully to society.
In his address, MLA Gulmarg, the Chief Guest, laid emphasis on the adoption of the latest scientific methods and technologies to boost agriculture, horticulture, and other sectors. He highlighted that such progress can only be achieved through research and innovation, urging students to play a proactive role in shaping the future.
