Police arrest man for attacking minor girls with chemical spray in Chadoora

Budgam, Dec 30: Budgam Police on Tuesday arrested a man accused of attacking two minor girls by spraying a chemical substance into their eyes in the Sanzipora area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
According to police, the incident occurred a few days ago when the two girls were returning home from tuition classes. Following the incident, the parents of the victims lodged a complaint at Police Station Chadoora, alleging that an unknown man had attacked their daughters and sprayed a chemical substance into their eyes.
A police official said that on receiving the complaint, FIR No. 209/2025 under Sections 62 and 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Chadoora, and an investigation was immediately taken up.
“During the course of the investigation, CCTV footage and other technical evidence were analysed, which led to the identification of the suspect,” the official said.
He said that Subsequent questioning and searches revealed that Raja Furqan, son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan, a resident of Gowherpora, Chadoora, had carried out the act by spraying snow spray into the eyes of the victims.”
Police also recovered the clothes and shoes worn by the accused at the time of the incident from his possession. The accused was identified by the victims and has been taken into custody.
The official further said that it has come to light that the accused had allegedly attempted similar acts in the past but was let off by locals after being admonished, without any formal complaint being registered.
