Srinagar, Dec 19: Popular Bollywood director Kabir Khan, who was in the valley for a recce of his upcoming film, has completed the visit and is planning a major project to be shot in Kashmir again.
A member of Khawar Jamsheed (KJ) Productions, who assisted the team during location scouting, told Rising Kashmir that the filmmaker is keen to shoot his next big project in the valley.
“He conducted a recce in Srinagar and Pahalgam for three to four days this time. He had also visited the valley in November for location scouting,” the production member said.
The source added that more details are expected to be finalised within the next 10 to 15 days. However, the cast and title of the film have not yet been confirmed.
In an Instagram post uploaded on November 19, Kabir shared photographs of Srinagar’s streets, captioning the post, ‘A walk through the streets of Srinagar with my camera.’
On Thursday, he also shared visuals on Instagram showcasing the lawns of Hotel Pine N Peak in Pahalgam and the scenic natural beauty surrounding the property.
Kabir is known for his fondness for Kashmir’s cuisine and natural landscapes. Apart from film shoots, he makes it a point to visit the valley at least once a year to enjoy its food and scenic charm.
In June 2024, the filmmaker attended the two-day Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Conclave 2024 at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), where he spoke about tourism promotion and film shooting in the region.
“Platforms like these allow stakeholders from various departments to come together and analyse why we choose to shoot here. Films can play a very important role in promoting tourism,” Kabir had said.
Kabir shares a strong association with Kashmir, having filmed major projects such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Phantom and Chandu Champion in the region. A significant portion of Bajrangi Bhaijaan was shot in Pahalgam and Sonamarg, and actor Salman Khan’s visit during the shoot was warmly received by locals.
Tourism stakeholders in the valley view Kabir Khan’s proposed project as a major boost and hope it will help revive the tourism industry.
