Srinagar, Dec, 19: The Government of India (GoI) has announced a significant administrative decision by promoting Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K, to the Selection Grade (Level-13). The promotion stands as a recognition of his exemplary administrative acumen, visionary leadership, and dedicated public service. This has been widely welcomed and appreciated by the officers and employees of the Sericulture Development Department J&K, silkworm rearers, farmers, stakeholders, and the general public across Jammu and Kashmir. Since assuming charge as Director Sericulture, J&K, Bhat has played a pivotal role in revitalising the sericulture sector in the Union Territory. Under his leadership, the department has witnessed notable progress through focused policy interventions, farmer-centric initiatives, infrastructure strengthening, promotion of bivoltine silk production, skill upgradation programmes and enhanced coordination with the Central Silk Board and other allied institutions. His efforts have significantly contributed towards improving the livelihood opportunities of silkworm rearers and strengthening the rural economy. Bhat is widely regarded for his transparent, innovative and inclusive approach to administration. His hands-on engagement with field functionaries and farming communities, emphasis on accountability and commitment to sustainable development have earned him immense respect within and outside the department.
