Budgam Police act against unregistered homestays in Humhama

Legal action initiated against owners Budgam, Jan 08: Budgam Police, along with the Tourist Police Station Srinagar, on Thursday conducted a verification and inspection drive against unregistered homestays and guest houses in the Humhama area of Budgam district. A senior police official told Rising Kashmir that the joint team carried out extensive checking of accommodation facilities operating in the area to ensure compliance with tourism and safety regulations. “During the inspection, several homestays and guest houses were found functioning without valid registration,” the official said. The establishments identified during the drive include the Cozy Heaven, Sheikhpora near Armed Complex; Haji Guest House, Humhama near the airport; Sukoonat Gah, ARCO Residency; Welcome Homestay, Humhama near the airport; Zabeel Villa, ARCO Residency; and Homestay by Ishaan, ARCO Residency. The official said that preventive action under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, was initiated against the owners of all six properties. In addition, fines were imposed on Haji Guest House and Welcome Homestay for operating without mandatory registration. “Such drives will continue in the future to ensure strict adherence to rules and to maintain safe, lawful, and regulated tourism practices in the district,” he added. Police have urged all owners of homestays and guest houses to comply with applicable laws and obtain the requisite registrations from competent authorities to avoid legal action.
