Srinagar, Dec 08: Bhaderwah witnessed a renewed hope after Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh announced that the tender for the much-awaited Bhaderwah Gondola project has been floated. The announcement was made through social media, with the minister stating that the project is expected to be completed within the next four months. The news was warmly welcomed by people from all walks of life, especially those associated with tourism and allied sectors. Locals termed the development a historic moment for Bhaderwah and the Chenab valley, which has long demanded a major tourism initiative to unlock its vast natural potential. Soon after the announcement, tourism organisations, including the Bhaderwah Adventure Tourism Association and the Tour and Travel Association, along with adventure tour operators, held a joint press conference. They expressed gratitude to Dr Jitendra Singh and Bhaderwah MLA Daleep Singh Parihar for their consistent support and follow-up. Speakers said the gondola project had remained stalled for years, and its revival reflects strong political will. The proposed multi-crore cable car project will connect Mathola village with Seoj Dhar, a high-altitude meadow situated at around 12,500 feet above sea level. Seoj Dhar lies close to the foothills of the scenic Kailash Kund Glacier and is known for its breathtaking landscape and untouched beauty. Tourism experts believe the gondola will significantly change the tourism profile of the region. They said the project will make high altitude areas easily accessible to visitors, increase tourist arrivals, and create employment opportunities for local youth. Sectors such as hotels, transport, guiding services, adventure sports, and local handicrafts are expected to see direct benefits. Seoj Dhar is considered one of the largest and most picturesque meadows in Jammu and Kashmir. The meadow stretches nearly 30 kilometres from Bhaderwah in Doda district to the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. Due to heavy snowfall, the area remains snow-covered for almost seven months, from November to May, making it suitable for winter sports and adventure tourism. Local residents said the gondola project will not only promote tourism but also strengthen the local economy. Many expressed hope that the project will lead to better infrastructure, increased investment, and long-term development for Bhaderwah and the surrounding areas. transport.
