Srinagar, Dec 16: In a move to boost tourism infrastructure and administrative efficiency, the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, has officially taken over the newly developed tourist facilities at the pristine Bag-e-Sangarwani site in Pulwama district.
The handover, completed by a joint team of officials, marks a strategic step towards the optimal management of assets created under Central Government schemes.
The transferred assets, developed under the Centre's Swadesh Darshan Scheme, include a fully-equipped Dining Hall with Kitchen and three Eco-Log Huts. These were formally taken over from the Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC) by the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, with the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) also part of the procedural team.
Officials stated that this administrative consolidation is aimed at "streamlining the management of tourism infrastructure and ensuring optimal utilization" of the facilities. It is expected to lead to more coordinated efforts in maintenance, promotion, and service delivery at the emerging destination.
Nestled amidst lush forests and serene landscapes, Bag-e-Sangarwani is being actively positioned as a new tourist hub for the region. The government's focus on promoting such offbeat and scenic locations is part of a broader strategy to diversify Kashmir's tourism portfolio beyond traditional hotspots.
"The pristine location offers immense potential for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, and eco-tourism," noted a tourism department official. The development is anticipated to not only attract increased tourist footfall but also create new livelihood opportunities for local residents, contributing to the region's socio-economic growth.
The successful handover signifies a proactive approach in integrating centrally-sponsored projects into the state's tourism mainstream, setting the stage for enhanced visitor experiences at one of South Kashmir's promising natural getaways.
