Budgam, Nov 24: Authorities demolished three illegal brickkilns operating in Mulashulla village of Beerwah Tehsil in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
According to officials, the brickkilns were functioning without any registration or approval as required under government rules and regulations.“The demolition drive was carried out jointly by the Beerwah Tehsil Administration and the Police, during which all three illegal brick kilns in the area were removed,” officials said.
Local residents said the brickkilns were causing significant damage to agricultural fields and orchards, and also posed serious health risks. They added that air pollution and dust particles generated by the kilns were affecting both fresh air quality and local vegetable produce. The villagers criticized the concerned departments for failing to curb the operation of unregistered brick kilns in various parts of Budgam district.“This is a great step taken by the district administration against those brickkilns that were not only harming the environment but also putting people’s lives at risk,” the locals added.
