2 held as police bust drug racket in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Dec 13: Police in Ganderbal on Saturday busted a drug racket by arresting two notorious drug peddlers and recovered narcotic substances as part of its efforts to eradicate drug abuse.

A police spokesman said in a swift and well-coordinated operation, on the directions of SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal, a police team from Police Station Ganderbal led by SHO PS Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Tengpora Dhobipora intercepted and apprehended 02 persons.

They have been identified as Aqib Rashid Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, and Tasaduq Majeed Bhat, son of Abdul Majeed Bhat, both residents of Guzerbal, Ganderbal. Upon thorough search, police party recovered one bag from Aqib Rashid Bhat containing 1024 grams of bhangpatri (ganja-like substance) and 58 grams of charas-like substance.

Moreover, police said that another bag weighing 780 grams of bhangpatri (ganja-like substance) was recovered from Tasaduq Majeed Bhat.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 201/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal, and further investigation is underway.

Police has requested the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling/anti-social activity in their vicinity and extend their cooperation to police in eradicating the drug menace from society as drugs are consuming precious lives and career of our young generation.
