Palestinian photojournalist Saher Alghorra has won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for his powerful coverage of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, as per TRT World.
According to TRT World, the award-winning photographs document the starvation, destruction in Gaza amid the ongoing war that began in October 2023. The images capture the daily realities of civilians, including shortages of food, widespread devastation and the impact of bombardment.
Pulitzer Administrator Marjorie Miller described as “haunting” and “sensitive.”
“In addition to the Pulitzer, Alghorra had earlier received first prize for war photography at the 32nd Prix Bayeux Calvados-Normandie in France for his report “Trapped in Gaza: Between Fire and Famine,” as per TRT World.
The recognition places Alghorra among leading global photojournalists whose work has drawn international attention to the humanitarian consequences of the Gaza conflict.
