Jammu, Apr 01: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday granted a three-month extension to the House Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) to enable it to submit its report, accepting a motion moved by Committee Chairman Justice Hasnain Masoodi through a voice vote. The motion, moved by the Chairman, stated: “That this house do extend the tenure of the House Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission

for a further period of three (3) months to enable it to complete its assigned task and submit report.” The House noted that the Committee required additional time to inspect works executed under JJM across Jammu and Kashmir. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather observed that while a major part of the work has been completed by the Committee, more time is needed to examine the 3,200 Water Supply

Schemes (WSSs) before finalising the report. Earlier, legislators including Aijaz Jan, Sham Lal Sharma, Sajad Gani Lone, Mir Saifullah, Nazir Ahmad Khan (Gurezi), Nizam-ud-din Bhat, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, and Peerzada Farooq Ahmad Shah raised issues and concerns regarding the implementation of JJM. The members called for augmenting completed water supply schemes for public use, release of deposits against completed works, and execution of pending works under the mission.
