Srinagar, April 3: PDP leader Iltija Mufti on Friday slammed the National Conference, accusing the party of having a history of inconsistent and duplicitous policies, particularly with regards to Jammu and Kashmir's hydroelectric projects.
In a post on X, Iltija Mufti wrote, "Dr Farooq Abdullah as CM in 1996 gifted 8 power projects to NHPC at throwaway prices as if it was the party’s private heirloom instead of public assets. Because of this hare brained decision people of J&K to this day have to purchase electricity their own state generates at exorbitant prices."
"Now Omar Sahab in his second innings as CM has once again handed over 2 power projects to NHPC. During elections NC promised to take back the very power projects it chose to gift NHPC. After being elected & as expected they took a complete U - turn by handing over more projects instead of wresting back previous ones,"the post reads.
"NCs duplicity comes at a time when people of J&K are reeling in darkness & struggling to pay astronomical electricity fees. It will haunt J&K for all times to come,"she added.
