Srinagar, Apr 01: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday extended greetings to the people on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Zain-ud-Din Wali Reshi (RA). In his message, Dr Farooq lauded the timeless legacy of Kashmir’s Reshi and Sufi saints, whose lives and teachings form the cornerstone of the region’s spiritual heritage. “The Reshi tradition is a unique expression of mysticism, blending spiritual depth with compassion, humility, and service to humanity. in local culture yet universal in its message, it transcends religious boundaries and embodies unity, peace, and inner transformation,” he said. Highlighting the contributions of saints from Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani (Nund Reshi) to Hazrat Zain-ud-Din Wali (RA), Dr Farooq said, “These sages nurtured spiritual inclusivity, moral uprightness, and communal harmony, shaping the moral and cultural fabric of our society.” He emphasized that their teachings of selflessness, compassion, and unity remain deeply relevant today, reflecting in the Kashmiri ethos
of placing shared human values above divisions. “Our culture carries the enduring imprint of their ideals,” he said, adding, “The need of the hour is to embody harmony, tolerance, and service in our daily lives.” Other leaders, including General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, MP South Kashmir Mian Altaf Ahmad, Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, District President Anantnag and MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani, and State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, also extended greetings on the Urs Sharief.
