SRINAGAR, MAY 7: In a major push for road discipline, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Special Enforcement Team joined forces with the Srinagar City Traffic Police today to launch a massive crackdown on traffic violators across the summer capital.
The joint operation targeted high-traffic corridors to "tighten the noose" on commercial operators flouting safety norms. During the intensive drive, several public transport vehicles were seized on the spot after being found operating without valid documentation, including fitness certificates and route permits.
This high-impact drive was executed under the direct instructions of Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan and DIG Traffic Kashmir Haseeb Ur Rehman (IPS). Both officials have mandated a policy of zero tolerance toward traffic offenses, asserting that road safety must be the prime concern of the entire society to prevent loss of life.
Officials stated that this collaborative effort aims to streamline urban transport and protect commuters. With the administration's firm stance, these surprise checks will continue until total compliance is achieved on Srinagar’s roads.
