Srinagar, Dec 15: The INOX multiplex in Srinagar is witnessing unprecedented footfall as the recently released Hindi film Dhurandhar continues to draw packed houses, leaving many moviegoers struggling to get tickets even on weekdays. An official of INOX Srinagar told Rising Kashmir over the phone that the multiplex is witnessing houseful shows. “In fact, this weekend people had to struggle to get movie tickets,” she said, adding that the multiplex is currently running four shows a day, most of which remain housefull. From early morning shows to late-night screenings, the multiplex has been running to near full capacity. Several visitors said they had to check ticketing apps multiple times or wait for cancellations to secure a seat. “I tried booking tickets for the evening show, but everything was sold out. I finally managed to get tickets for a late-night screening,” said Najiya, a university student. “The energy in the hall was amazing. People were clapping and cheering during key scenes.” Another visitor, Shabnam Begum from Baramulla, who watched the film with her family, said the storyline and performances kept them hooked. “What I loved most was the tight screenplay and powerful dialogue. It keeps you engaged from start to finish,” she said. Many viewers praised the film’s action sequences and background score, while others lauded actor Akshaye Khanna’s acting skills. “His performance and impeccable on-screen timing drew me to watch this film,” said Pardeep Singh, a moviegoer from Srinagar. Despite the absence of multiplex infrastructure in districts such as Shopian and Pulwama, Dhurandhar has continued to draw steady crowds in these areas as well. Highlighting the public response, the Shopian district administration posted on X on December 13: “District Administration Shopian facilitates the screening of Dhurandhar at the Shopian cinema. The move has been appreciated by locals. The cinema witnessed a large gathering on the first day of screening.” Released on December 5, the Aditya Dhar-directed film has so far earned ₹351.7 crore net at the Indian box office, with its gross domestic collection standing at ₹420 crore. The film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun, among others. In July this year, INOX Srinagar also witnessed houseful shows for Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara, while back in 2023, Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan had similarly triggered a packed house.
