Srinagar, April 21 : Amid rising concerns over fuel availability due to the ongoing West Asia crisis, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has assured residents of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the region.
Speaking on the current supply situation, IOCL officials stated that fuel stocks across depots and retail outlets remain sufficient to meet demand. Petrol reserves are adequate for nearly two weeks, while diesel stocks are even higher, ensuring uninterrupted availability across both union territories.
Officials also confirmed that fuel supply chains are functioning smoothly despite volatility in global energy markets. India continues to rely significantly on imports, especially from Middle Eastern countries, but coordinated efforts between oil companies and the government have helped maintain stability.
On LPG availability, IOCL clarified that domestic supply remains normal in J&K and Ladakh. However, there has been a noticeable increase in consumer bookings due to panic buying linked to international developments. As a result, delivery timelines have stretched from the usual 2–3 days to around 5–6 days.
Authorities emphasized that essential services such as hospitals, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical sectors are being prioritized to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply.
Additionally, digital booking of LPG cylinders has seen a sharp rise in the region, improving efficiency and transparency in distribution.
IOCL reiterated that there is no cause for concern and urged residents not to engage in panic buying, assuring that adequate measures are in place to maintain steady fuel availability across J&K and Ladakh. (ANI)
