Fire contained at Hyderpora Darul Aloom, Cooling Ops underway

Srinagar, April 10: A fire broke out at Hyderpora Chowk on Friday evening, prompting a swift response from Fire and Emergency Services.

Officials said the State Control Room, Batamaloo, received a call from PCR Srinagar at 6:09 pm about the incident. Fire units from Rawalpora, Nowgam, Headquarters Srinagar, Gowkadal, JVC and Rangreth were rushed to the spot. One additional fire tender from Budgam also joined the operation.

On arrival, firefighters found the attic and fourth floor of an L shaped, four storey Darul Aloom building engulfed in flames. A coordinated operation was launched under the supervision of ADGP Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar.

Deputy Director Command Srinagar Dr Aqib Hussain Mir and Mobilising Officer Ajaz Ahmad Shah monitored the operation on ground.

Officials said the fire was brought under control at around 7:18 pm after sustained efforts. Cooling operations are in progress to prevent any flare up.

They said the cause of the fire and extent of damage will be known after assessment.
