Srinagar, Oct 05 :  The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Sunday announced the closure of all government and private schools in the Jammu Division for two days in view of warnings of heavy rainfall. An order issued by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary (JKAS), Director of School Education Jammu, stated that the decision was taken in response to a weather advisory from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across various parts of the division. “To ensure the safety and security of students and staff, all government and private schools in Jammu Division will remain closed on October 6 and 7, 2025,” Dr. Naseem said. According to the IMD, an active Western Disturbance is expected to affect both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, bringing moderate to heavy snowfall in higher reaches and heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Jammu Division. The system is likely to be most intense from the evening of October 5 until the afternoon of October 7. In the Kashmir region, heavy snowfall is expected in areas such as Anantnag, Pahalgam, Kulgam, Sinthan Pass, Shopian, Pir Ki Gali, Sonamarg-Zojila, Bandipora-Razdan Pass, Gulmarg, and Kupwara-Sadhna Pass. Mid-altitude areas may receive light snowfall, while plains could experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
