‘
Nation cannot repay debt of fallen heroes’
SRINAGAR, SEPT30:In a strong message, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday condemned voices that echo separatist and terrorist narratives, stating that such rhetoric insults the sacrifices of martyrs and wounds the collective conscience of the nation.
“Those who speak the language of separatists and terrorists insult the sacrifices of our martyrs and hurt their soul. Strictest possible action as per the law of the land will be taken against such elements,” the Lieutenant Governor asserted.
“If anyone disrespects the sovereignty of India and the memories of our police martyrs, he will not be spared,” he added.
Highlighting Jammu and Kashmir as a symbol of sacrifice, LG Sinha called on the entire society, not just security forces, to preserve and honour the legacy of those who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
“Our brave hearts laid down their lives to fulfil the dreams of society. The peace, progress, and prosperity we see today have been made possible by their ultimate sacrifice. While we can never repay this debt, we must honour our fallen heroes and support their families,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 20th J&K Police Martyr’s Memorial Football Tournament in Srinagar. He paid rich tributes to the Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty and acknowledged their critical role in maintaining security and stability across the Union Territory.
“Jammu Kashmir is a symbol of the tradition of sacrifice of our brave warriors from army, police and CAPFs, hence preserving the memories of the martyrs is the responsibility not only of the forces but also of the entire public,” the LG noted.
The Lieutenant Governor also commended the Jammu and Kashmir Police for its efforts in youth engagement through the Civic Action Programme, noting that such initiatives promote sportsmanship and steer young minds toward positive pursuits.
During the event, LG Sinha interacted with players, distributed trophies and cash awards to the winners, runners-up, and outstanding performers of the tournament. In a highly anticipated final match, J&K Bank FC defeated Kashmir Avengers FC, clinching the title of the 20th J&K Police Martyr’s Memorial Football Tournament.
The event was attended by Director General of Police NalinPrabhat, Special DG Coordination PHQ S.J.M. Gillani, ADGP Armed Anand Jain, senior officials from the civil and police administration, members of the football fraternity, prominent sports personalities, and a large gathering of youth and sports enthusiasts.
The tournament, held in memory of the martyrs, aimed not only to celebrate the spirit of football but also to serve as a tribute to the fallen heroes whose sacrifices continue to inspire generations.
