Pulwama, Mar 29: Jammu & Kashmir Bank, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Project RISE (Respecting Identities | Promoting Equality), conducted a series of gender sensitization and self-defence awareness programmes in Pulwama district. The initiative was carried out by Live For Others – Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF) as part of its broader outreach across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, aiming to promote equality, dignity, and personal safety among students. The sessions were held at Govt.
Hr. Sec. School, Newa; Center High School, Pulwama; Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Hawal; and Govt. High School, Gudoora. These sessions were facilitated by Rubina Jamwal and Vivek Parihar, who engaged students through interactive discussions along with practical demonstrations. Speaking about the initiative, Vivek Parihar, Director & CEO of LFO-BHF, highlighted that “the sessions focused strongly on self-defence training, equipping students with basic techniques to enhance personal safety, build confidence, and respond effectively in difficult situations. Additionally, key
aspects of gender sensitivity, respectful behaviour, and responsible social conduct were also discussed.” Through these sessions, a total of 883 students were sensitised across different educational institutions in Pulwama district. The programme emphasized the importance of combining awareness with practical skills to prepare young individuals for real-life challenges. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and school authorities, who appreciated the practical approach and relevance of the sessions, further reinforcing the message of safety, respect, and self-empowerment.
