AIP seeks release of MP Er Rashid over ‘further decline’ of father’s condition

Srinagar, Apr 16: Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) on Thursday expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of jailed Member of Parliament from Baramulla, Er Rashid, who, according to the party, has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following ‘further decline in his condition.’

In a statement, Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said that Khazir Mohammad Sheikh is passing through a critical phase of illness and the family is undergoing a difficult time. He added that the absence of his son, who remains in custody, has further deepened the family’s distress during these moments.

Inam Un Nabi appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to pray for the speedy recovery of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.

The AIP spokesperson also urged the Government of India to take a humanitarian view of the situation and release MP Er Rashid so that he can be with his ailing father and support his family. He said that beyond legal considerations, the matter calls for empathy and timely intervention.
