Srinagar, Oct 04: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, on Saturday conducted a comprehensive review of the Action Taken Reports (ATRs) concerning various recommendations related to multi-sectoral policing in the Jammu region. During the meeting, IGP Tuti underscored the importance of aligning all policing initiatives with the national vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. Held at the Zonal Police Headquarters in Jammu, the review meeting was part of preparations for the upcoming 60th All-India DGPs and IGPs Conference, scheduled to take place in Chhattisgarh next month. Senior police officers from different districts and ranges participated both in person and via video conferencing. Officials said the IGP reviewed progress made on recommendations from previous DGP-IGP conferences, focusing on contemporary challenges and reform measures in internal security and law enforcement. “During the session, the IGP reviewed Action Taken Reports on key focus areas such as cybercrime, technology integration in policing, counter-terrorism, capacity building, and the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in law enforcement,” an officer stated. The discussions also included emerging security threats, community-oriented policing, and the modernisation of police infrastructure to effectively respond to evolving security challenges. IGP Tuti directed officers to develop innovative, result-oriented strategies aligned with national priorities to enhance operational efficiency and bolster internal security. He emphasized the need for timely compliance with pending directives and the effective implementation of national policing guidelines in both letter and spirit. “The police force must not only respond to present-day challenges but also anticipate and prepare for future security scenarios by leveraging technology and data-driven policing,” he said. He also called for greater synergy across police units and departments. The 60th All-India DGP-IGP Conference, being hosted in Chhattisgarh for the first time, will address critical issues including internal security, Naxal operations, border management, and cybersecurity. The three-day event, beginning November 28, will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while the valedictory session is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Around 250 senior police officers, including DGPs and IGPs from across the country, are expected to attend the conference in person, with approximately 200 more participating virtually, officials said. Meanwhile, a separate preparatory meeting was also held under the chairmanship of IGP Bhim Sen Tuti to review arrangements for the upcoming National Police Commemoration Day on October 21. IGP said it serves as a solemn reminder of the supreme sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty and an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the police and the public. He also directed all district and range officers to ensure that the commemorative events are conducted with dignity and precision, reflecting the honour and commitment of the police force towards maintaining peace and security.
