Inaugrates new school building in Nagrota
Jammu , April 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the newly constructed school building of Swami Pranavanand Vidyamandir at Panjgrain, Nagrota. The institution is managed by the Bharat Sevashram Sangha, a well-known socio-cultural and philanthropic organisation dedicated to education and social upliftment.
The school, which began offering pre-primary to Class 8 education in 2014 under the ‘Har Ghar Shiksha’ initiative, has been instrumental in transforming the lives of hundreds of students, more than half of whom come from economically weaker backgrounds.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the new higher secondary block, along with upcoming skill development infrastructure, will significantly enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
He noted that once the construction is fully completed, the campus will be able to accommodate over 1,500 students, marking a major step toward transforming thousands of lives. He also highlighted that proposed residential facilities for 100 boys will not only support education but also contribute to local economic growth and overall regional development.
Calling upon students and educators to actively participate in nation-building, Sinha emphasised the need to align education with the rapidly evolving global environment so that India can emerge as a leading knowledge-driven economy.
He stressed the importance of nurturing cultural awareness, communication skills, and collaborative values among students, stating that unity in diversity is essential for societal progress. He also encouraged recognition of diverse talents in arts, crafts, music, and entrepreneurship, urging equal respect and opportunities for all skill sets.
Criticizing an overly marks-focused education system, the Lieutenant Governor said future learning must go beyond textbooks and incorporate creativity, critical thinking, moral reasoning, teamwork, and lifelong learning—skills that remain uniquely human even in an era of advancing automation.
Highlighting the growing influence of artificial intelligence and automation across sectors such as education, healthcare, and administration, he said India’s workforce must continuously upgrade skills to stay ahead of global changes.
He also underscored the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP), describing it as a transformative framework designed to bridge educational gaps between rural and urban areas and to strengthen India’s journey toward becoming a robust knowledge economy.
According to him, true education must balance external knowledge with inner development, building both competence and emotional resilience. He added that NEP is shaping a generation equipped with scientific thinking, cultural values, moral strength, and a spirit of service.
The initiative has been supported by Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and several other donors.
The event was attended by Srimat Swami Biswatmanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangha; Srimat Swami Ambarishanandaji Maharaj, Joint Secretary; senior monks of the organisation; and various dignitaries.
Among those present were MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Nagrota Devyani Rana, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, Indian Oil HR Director Rashmi Govil, Hindustan Petroleum Executive Director Vilas Zode, former JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta, and several other prominent citizens.
