Srinagar, Feb 06: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at the Government Medical College (GMC) in Anantnag, south Kashmir, in connection with the so-called “white-collar” terror module unearthed in November 2025, officials said. Senior police officials stated that the NIA team carried out searches on the GMC campus as part of the ongoing investigation, linked to the recovery of a rifle from the locker of a doctor during last year’s probe. “Further investigations are underway to identify additional links and operatives associated with the module. We are probing all angles of the case,” an official added. Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, a doctor posted at GMC Anantnag, is among the nine accused arrested in the case. The arrests followed a nationwide crackdown that also led to the seizure of a large cache of explosives from Faridabad in the National Capital Region (NCR). The NIA is probing the alleged role of the accused in facilitating and supporting terror activities, including the procurement and concealment of arms and explosives. Meanwhile, security forces continued search operations in the Koil Karewa area of Pulwama district on Friday following specific intelligence inputs about the possible presence of terrorists in the area. “The area was cordoned off, and searches were launched as a precautionary measure. No arrests or recoveries have been made so far in the Pulwama operation,” officials added.
