Uri gets trauma hospital, 50 MVA transformer approval: MLA Uri

Srinagar, Feb 6: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Uri, Dr Sajjad Shafi on Friday said the Uri Assembly constituency has achieved two major milestones that are expected to bring much-needed relief to residents of the border area. In a statement issued here, Dr Shafi said approval has been accorded for the establishment of a trauma and emergency hospital in Uri, along with the installation of a new 50 MVA power transformer for the Lower Jhelum Hydel Power Project (LJHP) at Chehlan, Boniyar. He termed both projects as significant steps towards strengthening the healthcare and power infrastructure in the region. Expressing gratitude, the MLA thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Principal Secretary, Power Development Department (PDD), Shailendra Kumar for their timely cooperation and quick approvals. Dr Shafi said the proposed trauma and emergency hospital would substantially improve critical healthcare services in Uri sub-division, while the 50 MVA transformer would enhance power supply and help reduce frequent power outages in the constituency. Residents of Uri have welcomed the developments, describing them as historic initiatives aimed at improving public amenities and accelerating overall development in the area.
