Budgam, Jan 06: The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Tuesday took strict enforcement action against traffic violators, issuing 53 challans in Humhama and Ompora areas of Budgam district.
An official from the Traffic Police said the action was taken as part of a special road safety awareness programme organised in connection with Road Safety Month. The programme was conducted from Main Chowk Humhama to Ompora.
The drive was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic Rural Kashmir) Ravinder Paul Singh, accompanied by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic Budgam) Farooq Ahmad and the Sector Officer, Humhama.
“As part of the initiative, strict enforcement was carried out against various traffic violations, resulting in the issuance of 53 challans,” the official said.
Alongside enforcement, a comprehensive awareness campaign was also conducted, witnessing active participation from students, shopkeepers, drivers and other members of the public. The participants were sensitised about traffic rules, safe driving practices and the importance of responsible road behaviour.
The initiative aimed to promote road safety awareness, encourage compliance with traffic laws and reduce road accidents through public education.
Traffic Police have also urged commuters to strictly adhere to traffic norms and cooperate in making roads safer for everyone.
