Tourism boom breathes new life into Gulmarg

Gulmarg, Apr 11: In a strong boost to Kashmir’s tourism sector, Gulmarg is witnessing a significant surge in tourist footfall, bringing renewed economic activity and employment opportunities for local residents.

 

Known for its breathtaking landscape Gulmarg has once again emerged as a top destination for travelers. The recent influx of visitors has not only enhanced the region’s visibility but also strengthened livelihoods dependent on tourism.

 

Locals say the revival has translated into tangible economic benefits. “We are seeing a steady flow of tourists this season. It has improved our daily earnings and brought stability after a long time,” said a local pony handler.

 

A hotelier echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Tourism is the backbone of Gulmarg. With more visitors, business has picked up, and more people are getting jobs.”

 

Tourists from across the country are equally enthralled. “Gulmarg is truly mesmerizing. The mix of snow and greenery is rare and beautiful,” said a tourist from Mumbai. Another visitor described the experience as “unforgettable,” praising both the natural beauty and local hospitality.

 

The globally renowned Gulmarg Gondola continues to remain a major attraction, ferrying visitors to the scenic heights of Apharwat Peak. “The gondola ride was the highlight of our trip. The view from the top is simply breathtaking,” said a tourist.

 

Apart from tourism, Gulmarg’s cinematic appeal has also kept it in the spotlight, with Bollywood filmmakers frequently choosing the destination for shoots. “Film bring extra income for locals. Many of us get temporary work during that time,” said a shopkeeper.
