Jammu/Srinagar, Dec 31: Under the visionary stewardship of Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Arun Palli, the Mediation and Conciliation Committee of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Judicial Academy and the J&K Legal Services Authority, on Wednesday concluded a three-day “Conduct of Mediation - Advanced Course (Capsule Course)” for mediators and advocates in two batches simultaneously at the Jammu and Srinagar campuses of the J&K Judicial Academy.
The objective of the 20-hour advanced mediation training course was to equip mediators with the principles of mediation.
The concluding day was presided over by Rita Das Mouzumdar, Advocate, Gauhati High Court, Assam, as the Resource Person at the Srinagar Campus, and Suman Sharma, Advocate, Gauhati High Court, Assam, along with Balbir Kour, Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court, as Resource Persons at the Jammu Campus.
All Resource Persons are accredited Mediation Trainers with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India.
The three-day advanced mediation training comprised multiple technical sessions, role plays, and brainstorming exercises, emphasising communication techniques for skilled mediators, negotiation skills, managing impasses, and ethical standards. Topics covered included negotiation styles, understanding and managing impasses, stages of impasse, mediator reflections, management strategies, and ethical conduct.
The programme aimed to build a cadre of expert mediators and trainers, furthering the mission of providing speedy and effective justice.
All sessions were highly interactive in both Jammu and Srinagar, with participants actively participating, sharing experiences, raising questions, and discussing various aspects of the topics.
Faizanul Haq Iqbal, Coordinator of the Main Mediation Centre at the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Sunil Kumar, Secretary of the J&K and Ladakh High Court Legal Services Committee, conducted the programme from Jammu, along with Tabasum Qadir Parray, Secretary of DLSA Srinagar, and Sayeem Qayoom, Secretary of DLSA Anantnag, from Srinagar.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Naseer Ahmad Dar, Director of J&K Judicial Academy, to all participants and especially to the Resource Persons for sharing their valuable time and expertise.
