Budgam, May 02:- Student-led anti-drug awareness drives are gathering momentum in Budgam, with young volunteers taking the lead in spreading awareness about substance abuse and promoting healthier lifestyles across communities.

The initiative saw active participation from students and teachers, who visited residential areas as well as agricultural fields to directly engage with the public. Through face-to-face interactions, they highlighted the serious physical, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse, particularly among youth.

Javid Ahmad, a student participant from Budgam, said that the campaign aimed to connect with people at the grassroots level.

“We visited homes and agricultural fields of farmers along with our teachers. We interacted with the general public and made them aware about the harmful effects of drugs and cigarette use,” he said.

The awareness drive received a positive response from local residents, who appreciated the students’ efforts in addressing a growing concern. Many villagers acknowledged the importance of such initiatives, especially in rural areas where awareness levels are often limited.

Sadaf Jan, another student involved in the campaign, highlighted both the community’s response and the message delivered during the drive.

“People appreciated our efforts in conducting such awareness programs in villages. During our visits, even small children appealed to people not to use tobacco products, explaining that it not only destroys lives but also leads to unnecessary spending of hard-earned money,” she said.
