Srinagar, May 4, 2026: In a strong action under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police has demolished an illegal residential structure in the Palpora Noorbagh area, officials said.
The structure belonged to Mohammad Irfan Sheikh, also known as Iff, son of Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, a resident of Pamposh Colony, Palpora Noorbagh. Police describe him as a habitual offender allegedly involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to officials, Sheikh is named in FIR No. 134/2024 registered at Police Station Safakadal under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and FIR No. 48/2025 at Police Station Sangam under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act.
Authorities said preliminary investigation and verification indicated that the demolished structure was built without proper legal permission and was allegedly constructed using proceeds linked to drug trafficking. The action was taken after due process and in coordination with concerned departments, officials added.
Police further stated that some associates and family members of the accused are also allegedly involved in narcotics-related cases in different parts of the Valley, suggesting a wider network.
Officials said the demolition forms part of efforts to target not only drug trafficking but also assets believed to be generated from illegal drug trade.
Reiterating its stance, Srinagar Police said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and is committed to dismantling both the supply networks and the financial structures supporting the narcotics trade.
Authorities have also appealed to the public to support anti-drug efforts by sharing information that can help curb the spread of narcotics and protect young people from drug abuse.
