Srinagar, May 7: In a continued crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police has attached immovable properties worth over ₹2 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers in the Chanapora and Qamarwari areas of Srinagar.

In the first case, Police Station Chanapora attached a double-storey residential house with an attic, valued at around ₹1 crore. The property belongs to Huzaif Shabir Dar, a resident of Budshahnagar Chanapora, who is accused in an NDPS Act case registered in 2024. Police said the investigation found that the house was purchased using money earned from illegal drug trafficking. The attachment has been carried out under legal provisions, and the owner is now barred from selling or transferring the property.

In a separate action, Police Post Qamarwari attached another double-storey house linked to a known drug peddler, Basit Ahmad Baba alias Aikan, a resident of Barthana Qamarwari. The property, estimated to be worth over ₹1 crore, is officially recorded in his father’s name and falls under Khasra No. 100. Authorities said the action is part of efforts to dismantle the financial base of drug networks in the region.

Officials said both attachments were carried out strictly under due legal procedure and in the presence of independent witnesses.

Reiterating its commitment to a drug-free society, Srinagar Police said it will continue strict action not only against those involved in drug trafficking but also against assets acquired through illegal drug money. The police have also urged the public to share information about drug-related activities to help curb the growing menace of substance abuse.
