Budgam, April 26: The Assistant Executive Engineer of PHE Sub Division Beerwah has issued a public advisory declaring several spring water sources in Khag area of Budgam district unsafe for drinking.
According to the official advisory, water samples tested by the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khag have revealed that the spring sources at Zargar Mohalla Khag, Apri Bagh Khag, and Sugin are currently unfit for human consumption.
The advisory strictly directs residents of the affected areas to refrain from using the water for drinking purposes and instead limit its use to washing and other non-potable needs until further notice.
However, in cases of extreme necessity, authorities have advised that the water may only be consumed after thorough boiling as a precautionary measure.
Officials further said that the PHE Sub Division Beerwah will undertake independent sampling and testing of these water sources. Necessary technical interventions and remedial steps will be carried out on priority to restore the quality of water and ensure its safety for public consumption.
The department has urged the public to cooperate with the advisory to help safeguard community health.
