Srinagar, Dec 20: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded an installed solar power capacity of 79.48 megawatts, contributing to India’s growing clean energy sector as the country’s total renewable energy capacity has surpassed 253 gigawatts. Data available with Rising Kashmir shows that Jammu and Kashmir is among the regions supporting the national renewable energy basket at a time when solar power has emerged as India’s largest clean energy source, with a total installed capacity of 132.85 GW nationwide. During the current financial year 2025–26, solar energy generation across the country reached 94,399 million units up to October, while overall renewable energy generation crossed 311,954 million units, reflecting steady growth in the sector. In the region, Ladakh has an installed solar capacity of 11.40 MW, while Himachal Pradesh has crossed 310 MW, indicating gradual expansion of solar infrastructure across the Himalayan belt. At the national level, leading states such as Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra continue to add substantial solar capacities, reinforcing India’s clean energy push and creating opportunities for wider regional participation.
