Urges citizens to cooperate, share intelligence
Srinagar, Apr 13: Srinagar Police on Monday announced a comprehensive 100-day anti-drug campaign against the growing menace, pledging stricter enforcement and a community-driven crackdown to dismantle the entire narcotics ecosystem in the district.
Speaking to reporters after the official launch of the Nasha Mukht J&K campaign at Amar Singh College, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr G.V. Sandeep Chakravarthy said the initiative marks an intensified phase of ongoing anti-drug operations.
“We have officially announced a 100-day anti-drug campaign today in presence of DC Srinagar Akshay Labroo. While operations are already underway, Srinagar Police will now take even stricter action,” he said, emphasising that the strategy goes beyond routine enforcement.
Dr Chakravarthy underlined that the focus would not be limited to awareness drives. “This is not just a program—it is a task. We aim to crush the entire ecosystem, including peddlers and the supply chain that fuels drug abuse,” he said.
The SSP said the fight against drugs cannot be won by law enforcement alone. “This is not only the responsibility of the police and administration; it is a fight for the entire society,” he said, urging citizens to actively participate.
Calling for grassroots involvement, he appealed to residents and mohalla communities to share intelligence and inputs with the police. “Public cooperation is crucial. Timely information can help us act swiftly and effectively,” he added.
The campaign, launched in coordination with DC Srinagar, aligns with the broader vision of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan and the UT-level Nasha Mukht J&K initiative rolled out by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment, SSP Chakravarthy said the ultimate goal is clear. “Our ambition is to ensure that Srinagar becomes a drug-free district,” he said. With intensified enforcement, community engagement, and a firm resolve to break the drug supply chain, the 100-day campaign signals a decisive step in Srinagar’s battle against narcotics.
