Jammu, Jan 30: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Science and Technology, Satish Sharma, Friday attended the Rashtriya Dogri Kavi Sammelan organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, as part of the Republic Day–2026 celebrations.
A statement issued here said that the programme, held under the theme of celebrating India’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity, witnessed enthusiastic participation from renowned Dogri poets, writers and literary figures from across the country.
Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma highlighted the immense contribution of Dogri language and literature in preserving the cultural identity of Jammu region. He said that regional languages are the soul of India’s pluralistic heritage and play a vital role in strengthening social harmony, national integration and cultural continuity.
The Minister emphasized that the government is fully committed to the promotion, preservation and propagation of indigenous languages through institutional support, literary platforms and youth engagement initiatives.
He noted that programmes such as Rashtriya Kavi Sammelans not only honour the veteran litterateurs but also inspire the young writers to remain connected with their linguistic roots. Satish Sharma stated that culture, language and literature are powerful instruments of social transformation and must be nurtured alongside development and technological progress.
He stressed that the integration of culture with education, digital platforms and youth-centric programmes will further strengthen the reach and relevance of regional languages.
