R&B, PMGSY pulls up engineers for missing MLA-headed public darbars in Uri

Srinagar, Jan 12: The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Division and the PMGSY Division Uri have issued separate show-cause notices to engineering officials for failing to attend Public Darbars chaired by MLA Uri, Dr Sajjad Shafi, officials said.

According to an order issued by the Executive Engineer, R&B Division Uri, a show-cause notice has been served to Junior Engineer Showkat Ali Khan for his absence from a Public Darbar held at Paranpillan on January 8.

The notice states that the Junior Engineer was directed to attend the public grievance redressal programme but failed to remain present at the venue at the scheduled time.

The absence was viewed seriously by the MLA Uri, the order said, adding that the Executive Engineer had to face embarrassment due to the official’s non-attendance.

The Junior Engineer has been asked to explain his position within one day, failing which disciplinary action under the Civil Service Rules (CSR) will be initiated.

In a separate order, the Executive Engineer, PMGSY Division Uri, issued a show-cause notice to Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Ghulam Mustafa and Junior Engineer, Vajad Ahmad Khan of PMGSY Sub-Division Uri in connection with their absence from Public Darbars held at Balkote and Machikhand on January 10.

As per the notice, the officials were directed to depute an AE/JE to attend the Public Darbars chaired by the MLA Uri.

However, the concerned official failed to attend the Darbar at Balkote. Though the official later attended the Darbar at Machikhand after being instructed again, the lapse was taken seriously by the MLA.

The officials have been asked to explain why the directions were not followed “in letter and spirit” within two days of receipt of the notice, failing which further action may be taken.
