Kangan,Jan 06: In a rare medical achievement, doctors at the Trauma Hospital Kangan in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district successfully performed a combined laparoscopic surgery on a young female patient.
The procedure included laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) along with laparoscopic mesh repair of an inguinal hernia in a single operation. The surgery was conducted by Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon Dr. R. Simnani, with assistance from Showat, Basit and other team members. Anaesthesia support was provided by Consultant Anaesthetist Dr. Zahoor, assisted by Gowhar.
Doctors said that inguinal hernia in women is rare and performing its laparoscopic mesh repair along with gallbladder surgery at the same time is an uncommon procedure. Only a few such cases have been reported so far, making this surgery medically significant. Hospital officials said the successful surgery reflects the growing expertise of the medical team at Trauma Hospital Kangan in advanced laparoscopic procedures. They added that performing both surgeries together helped reduce hospital stay, ensured faster recovery and minimized surgical stress for the patient.
