Police solve cattle theft case in Sopore, two accused arrested

Sopore, Jan 29: Sopore Police have solved a cattle theft case with the arrest of two accused persons and the recovery of five stolen cattle, officials said on Thursday.

The case was registered at Police Station Sopore under FIR No. 21/2026 and Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, several suspects were questioned, following which one suspect confessed to his involvement in the theft and revealed the role of another accomplice.

Police identified the accused as Shakir Ahmad Dar and Aadil Ashraf Dar, both residents of Dangerpora Sopore. Acting on the disclosure made during interrogation, the police team traced and recovered five heifer cows from Jahama Mawer area of Handwara.

Both accused have been formally arrested, and further investigation is underway to determine possible additional linkages in the case.

Police officials said the successful operation reflects their commitment to swift investigation and protection of people’s livelihood assets, adding that strict action will continue against those involved in criminal activities.
