Anantnag, May 6: In a move aimed at tightening surveillance over narcotics offenders, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag have fitted a GPS-enabled tracking anklet on an accused in a drug-related case who was recently granted bail by a court.

Officials said the device was installed on Fayaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Zaldoora Dooru, in compliance with court directions to ensure adherence to bail conditions and enable real-time monitoring of his movements.

The accused is involved in a case registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Dooru. The GPS anklet, secured around the ankle, allows authorities to track the location of the accused continuously and ensure he does not violate any restrictions imposed by the court.

Police said the initiative marks a step towards the use of modern technology in tackling drug trafficking and ensuring accountability among offenders released on bail.

Officials added that such measures will help strengthen monitoring mechanisms and support ongoing efforts to curb substance abuse in the region.
