Doda, Jan 07: A one-day interactive-cum-awareness session on the Labour Codes was on Wednesday organised by the Labour Department.
According to a statement issued here, the employers, representatives of business establishments and workers from the un-organised sector from across the district participated in the event.
Detailed presentations were delivered by the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Labour Officer and Labour Inspector covering the salient features, objectives and key reforms introduced under the four Labour Codes.
The participants were apprised of the measures undertaken to strengthen the welfare and social security of workers, including simplification and consolidation of labour laws to ensure better protection of workers’ rights, reduction of procedural complexities to facilitate timely compliance and grievance redressal and enhanced use of digitization for transparent access to benefits and services for workers.
Emphasis was also laid on the transition from the conventional enforcement-centric approach to the Inspector-cum-Facilitator framework and the introduction of a single licensing system, aimed at promoting cooperative compliance and trust between the department and stakeholders.
Additionally, the participants were sensitized about the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme and other financial inclusion and social security schemes meant for unorganised workers. The eligibility criteria, benefits and enrolment procedures under these schemes were explained in detail to encourage wider coverage.
