Passengers Applaud Amenities; Massive Surge in Occupancy

Jammu, 05 May:- Srinagar, May 5: The newly launched Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar is witnessing a strong passenger response, with occupancy levels rising sharply within days of its commencement on May 2.

Officials said the semi-high-speed train has quickly gained popularity among travellers for its speed, comfort and modern amenities. On May 4, the service recorded an occupancy of around 82 percent, with approximately 4,680 passengers travelling across two pairs of trains.

The following day, occupancy surged to 96 percent, with around 2,744 passengers travelling on a single operational pair of trains. Overall, between May 2 and May 5, nearly 16,349 passengers used the service, with an average occupancy of about 82 percent.

 

Officials attributed the growing demand to the train’s improved travel experience, with many passengers preferring it over conventional options. Travellers have particularly appreciated the smooth ride, onboard services and quality of food.

Railway authorities said regular inspections are being carried out to maintain service standards and ensure passenger satisfaction.

 

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the response reflects growing confidence in the service.

 

"The operation of the Vande Bharat Express on the Jammu-Katra route symbolizes the modern transformation of Indian Railways. The fact that occupancy levels have surged from 82% to 96% in just two days is a matter of immense pride for us,” he said adding “ We are delighted that passengers are not only satisfied with the services but are also viewing this train as the most reliable option for their travel needs,”

 

He further added that in the coming times, as the tourism season gains momentum, they anticipate that this train will operate at 100% occupancy.
