25.79% SED posts lie Vacant in frontier district
Srinagar, Apr 02: Jammu and Kashmir’s rural districts continue to grapple with a shortage of key posts in the School Education Department (SED), impacting learning outcomes.
According to details shared by Minister in charge of School Education, Sakeena Itoo, frontier district Kupwara has a shortage of 1,657 posts out of a total strength of 6,424 in the department. Of these, 4,767 posts are currently filled.
The highest number of vacancies has been reported in Lecturer posts. Against a sanctioned strength of 675, only 254 are in position, while 421 remain vacant, indicating a shortage of over 63 per cent.
Further, 365 posts of Masters are vacant against a total of 866, while 2,871 Teacher posts are filled against a sanctioned strength of 3,500. The remaining 629 posts have been frozen for drawal of salary under TG-II and TG-III.
As per the data, 13 posts of Head Assistant are vacant against a total of 19. Similarly, 10 Accountant posts and two Junior Stenographer posts are vacant against sanctioned strengths of 11 and two, respectively. One post of Accounts Assistant is vacant against a total of 61.
Eight posts of Senior Assistant, all four posts of Statistical Assistant, one post of Technician, 15 posts of Librarian, 30 posts of Junior Assistant, and 10 posts of Junior Librarian are also vacant in the district.
In addition, there is a shortage of 31 Laboratory Assistant posts, 21 Library Assistant posts, one Driver, and 95 MTS posts in the department across Kupwara.
Details from Langate constituency show that 266 posts out of a total strength of 1,673 are vacant. These include 93 Lecturer posts and 59 Masters posts, while 17 Teacher posts have been frozen for salary drawal under TG-II and TG-III.
One post each of Head Assistant and Senior Assistant is vacant. It was further revealed that 53 posts of Accounts Assistant, Junior Assistant, Junior Librarian, Laboratory Assistant, Library Assistant, and MTS are frozen in Langate constituency.
