Srinagar, Apr 23: Senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference have urged the Centre to consider the release of Baramulla Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds, citing the serious health condition of his father.
Party Additional General Secretary and MP Chowdry Mohammad Ramzan appealed to the Central Government to take a compassionate view of the situation and allow Rashid to be with his ailing father during this critical time.
Ramzan stated that there are well-established precedents where detainees and undertrials have been granted interim bail or custody parole to attend to pressing family circumstances, including serious medical emergencies and even marriages.
Echoing similar sentiments, NC MP from Anantnag-Rajouri Mian Altaf Ahmad sought parole for the incarcerated leader, emphasizing the need to uphold humanitarian considerations in such circumstances.
The leaders said that granting temporary relief would not only address a personal crisis but also reflect sensitivity towards human values. They expressed hope that the authorities would respond positively to the appeal.
Engineer Rashid is currently lodged in custody, and his party colleagues have reiterated their demand for appropriate relief in view of the family emergency.
