Srinagar, Jan 25: Following heavy snowfall across the Uri assembly constituency, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Uri, Dr Sajjad Shafi remained present on the ground to closely monitor the situation and oversee relief and restoration measures. According to a statement issued here, the MLA convened a detailed review meeting with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri to assess the impact of the snowfall and the status of essential services. During the review meeting, key issues related to road connectivity, power supply, water supply and public safety were discussed. The MLA stressed the need for speedy restoration of basic services and directed all concerned departments to work on a war footing to minimise the hardship faced by the people. “Despite being engaged on ground zero duties, Dr Sajjad also participated in the meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister regarding the budget through a video conference,” the statement reads. “During the interaction, he effectively raised the pressing issues and concerns of the residents of Uri constituency, including the need for a 50 MVA transformer at LJHP and for improved infrastructure in Uri and Boniyar tehsils and other key issues of Uri constituency, especially in view of the challenges posed by severe weather conditions,” it added. The MLA sought urgent administrative intervention on these matters. Reiterating his commitment to stand shoulder to shoulder with the public during difficult times, the MLA assured that all genuine issues would be taken up with the administration for early redressal.
