Thousands to participate; rally from New Bus Stand
Srinagar, May 04: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate a mega anti-drug Padyatra at the district headquarters in Budgam on Tuesday, with thousands of participants expected to join the rally from the New Bus Stand.
Students, senior citizens, youth groups, civil society members, government officials, and representatives from various organisations across the district will take part in the march, according to officials.
The event is part of a broader campaign to promote a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and to sensitise people, particularly the youth, about the serious health, social, and economic consequences of substance abuse.
The Lieutenant Governor is expected to address the gathering and reiterate the administration's commitment to eradicating drug abuse through strict enforcement measures, rehabilitation programs, and community participation. He is also likely to call upon families, educational institutions, and local communities to play a proactive role in preventing substance abuse.
Police and district administration have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the event, including traffic management and security measures.
The mega Padyatra is being seen as one of the largest public awareness drives in the region, reflecting a collective resolve to address the growing concern of drug addiction. The initiative aims to strengthen community engagement and encourage people to stand united against the drug menace.
