Leh, Dec 12: In a major initiative aimed at strengthening transportation links in Ladakh, Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta inaugurated the B-3 Helicopter Operations, offering residents and travellers a faster and safer mode of travel across the mountainous region.
The service, which will function on subsidised fares, is expected to ease the mobility challenges that people in isolated pockets face due to steep terrain, prolonged winters, and limited road connectivity.
According to officials, the new flights will operate on multiple routes, connecting Kargil, Padum, Lingshad, Dibling, Nyerak, Diskit, Turtuk, and several locations in Changthang. The aerial links will considerably cut travel hours and provide immediate assistance for medical emergencies and urgent transportation needs.
Locals have applauded the launch, stating that dependable helicopter access will not only improve daily life but also attract more visitors to Ladakh’s remote landscapes, giving a much-needed lift to the tourism sector and local economy.
With the introduction of the B-3 Helicopter Operations, the administration has taken a significant step toward ensuring better connectivity, stronger emergency support, and balanced development across Ladakh’s far-flung Himalayan settlements.
