Joint security review meeting on tourist spots held in Ganderbal

Ganderbal, Jan 13: A joint security review meeting focused on the safety of tourist destinations in Central Kashmir Range was held on Tuesday at DPO Ganderbal here. The meeting was jointly chaired by DIG CKR Rajiv Omprakash Pande-IPS and Army Commander, 3-Sector, Hemant Singh Panwar. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including DIG CRPF Sudhir Kumar, SSP Srinagar Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy-IPS, SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, SP Cargo Srinagar Tanveer Ahmad, along with representatives from the Army, Intelligence Agencies, and Central Armed Police Forces. Discussions centred on the current security scenario, with special focus on protecting tourist destinations amid challenging weather conditions, a police spokesperson said, adding that measures to boost tourist confidence and ensure a safe environment were thoroughly examined. The meeting also reviewed security arrangements ahead of Republic Day 2026, with instructions to strengthen the security grid, improve inter-agency coordination, and optimise force deployment. The chair emphasised maintaining high alertness, proactive intelligence sharing, and coordinated response strategies to address emerging threats and safeguard peace. The public is urged to cooperate with security forces and promptly report any suspicious activities or information related to Anti-National Elements (ANEs) to help maintain peace and security.
