Srinagar, Jan 27: The J&K Tourism Department participated in the leading annual global trade fair for tourism, FITUR, organised by IFEMA Madrid from 21st to 25th January 2026.The delegation of J&K Tourism was headed by Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister. Additionally, the delegation comprised Joint Director of Tourism Kashmir, Waseem Raja, and Joint Director of Tourism Jammu, Ajaz Kaiser Malik.The event was also attended by tour operators from J&K. The highlight of the event was the facility of Virtual Reality (VR), which was introduced for the first time by the J&K Tourism Department. Visitors were mesmerised by captivating videos of landscapes through the VR mode.Furthermore, the display of arts and crafts of J&K, such as paper mache, Bhushali paintings, and wicker willow work, enthralled the foreign visitors. Kashmiri Kehwa became a significant attraction among the international guests. The beautifully designed J&K stall, with its aesthetic display of arts and crafts, received widespread appreciation from visitors, officials from the Ministry, and representatives from the Embassy.The event commenced with the inauguration of the J&K Tourism Stall on 21st January by the Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K, in the presence of senior officers from the Indian Embassy in Spain, officers of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and leading tour operators participating in the inaugural ceremony.To promote J&K Tourism at a global level, the J&K Tourism Department hosted a high tea for tour operators on 22nd January 2026. The event was attended by numerous leading tour operators and media persons. It was graced by the Ambassador of India in Spain and the Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of J&K.Additionally, the Advisor to the Chief Minister attended a high-profile meeting on the promotion of tourism hosted by the Indian Embassy in Spain on 23rd January.During the five-day event, the Advisor held meetings with various prominent tour operators and media persons to further promote J&K Tourism on the global stage.
