Srinagar, Feb 18: In a heartening initiative aimed at strengthening bonds with rural communities, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched its outreach programme titled 'Chali Gaon Ki Aur' across various remote villages of Tehsil Gund in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
The programme was carried out under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, SDPO Kangan Rajeev Raina, and SHO Police Station Gund Rayees Ahmad, along with a team of police personnel.
Under this people-centric initiative, officers visited several far-flung areas of Tehsil Gund, engaging directly with residents. They listened to public concerns, spread awareness about cybercrime prevention, drug abuse, and various youth empowerment schemes, and encouraged active community participation in maintaining peace and harmony.
Speaking on the occasion, SDPO Kangan Rajeev Raina (JKPS) said, “‘Chali Gaon Ki Aur’ is not just a policing initiative; it is a bridge of trust between the police and the people. We want every villager to feel that the police are their partners in progress and safety.”
He emphasised the importance of youth engagement, stating, “Our focus is on guiding young minds towards education, sports, and entrepreneurship. By creating awareness and offering support, we aim to help them build a brighter future.”
SHO Gund Rayees Ahmad added, “We are here to listen and to serve. Direct interaction helps us understand ground realities better and strengthens mutual confidence.”
During the visits, officers also conducted interactive sessions with local community. Youth were motivated to stay away from drugs and negative influences, and instead channel their energy into constructive activities.
Villagers warmly welcomed the initiative, describing it as a significant confidence-building measure. A local resident from Sumbal Bala said, “It feels reassuring to see police officers visiting our village, listening to us, and guiding our youth. This brings us closer and strengthens our trust.”
Through 'Chali Gaon Ki Aur,' the Jammu and Kashmir Police continues to reaffirm its commitment to community policing — ensuring that security and service go hand in hand, even in the most remote corners of the Union Territory.
